Wire sculptor Eric Zabriskie twists up his own tiny worlds

Eric Zabriskie really wraps and twists up his ideas in these great
tiny worlds, using wire and enamel and other materials depending on
the piece. I'm proud to say I grew up with this kid and have seen his
work grow, from simple guitar string dream catchers, made from one of
his broken strings, when he played in band with my other best friends.
Then I saw it grow to add nail polish and amazing little sculptures
of people in crazy, tiny, fairy-like lands. His work has been viewed
at galleries and received press. Now lets' get to his new works:
they're out of this world. Seriously, these wedding toppers are some
of the most intricate and have such a crazy stories that you can just
imagine one your own cake someday. I'm sure the lucky people who tie
the knot with this wire sculpture will have many stories to tell.

It's Monkey here and I wanted to let you know that we will be
releasing our Off the Train Collection on Sepetmber 11. Online sales
and wholesale orders will begin September 12, and the collection will
also be available at two WBM retail locations: one in Brooklyn and one
in Manhattan. The urban inspired and unisex collection includes
pendants, earrings, bracelets, and interior products. This is the
first of a series of three emails we will be sending over the next two
weeks with updates, entitled: Where the Train Stoped Next. This one
includes a preview of the new collection, an awesome video that we
collaborated on with videographer Devon Gilian from DTP, featuring
music by Brian McKenna from BToven Music, and a six question contest
in which winners receive free WrecordsByMonkey products.

Off The Train Promotional Video

This is something we want to do a lot more of. In the video you'll get
to see model Dushane Noble by the water with our bracelets molding,
melting, and dancing around to some great beats. The video was the
result of a collaboration between WrecordsBymonkey, DTP video, and
B-tOVEN Music.

Reliving Lennon’s Legacy at the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame Annex

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Annex in Soho is currently featuring a
John Lennon exhibit that is a necessity for any Lennon fan to see.
Upon entering the exhibit, patrons walk into the all-white room across
a sticky mat to remove dirt from the shoes. On the walls hang four
projection screens playing interview and concert footage of John
Lennon and Yoko Ono’s New York City years. On the floor, several
glass cases containt handwritten lyrics to about a dozen songs
including God and Working Class Hero. Also displayed are press kits,
guitars, deportation letters, and his famed New York City t-shirt.
Seeing these rare and never before seen artifacts breathe a whole new
life into Lennon’s legacy and his message of social change and peace.
It almost didn’t seem real to be looking instruments which he used to
write legendary songs, or the clothing he’d worn in countless iconic
photographs. It was invigorating to see a part of history that I can
relate to; the symbols left behind by a musical genius brought too
soon to his death.

Admission to the Lennon exhibit also grants access to the entire
museum, which is a worthwhile experience in itself. The visit starts
out with a short movie about the history of rock and roll, which is
sort of a surround sound and sight experience. The artifacts
themselves include iconic clothing such as Elvis’s jumpsuit,
handwritten lyrics by Jerry Garcia, dozens of guitars including a Jimi
Hendrix Fender, and even David Byrne’s big suit from Stop Making
Sense. So, if you’re ever in the neighborhood, check it out for a
blast through rock and roll history.

Shop of the Week: Montana Knox

Artist and designer Montana Knox recently opened his first store, a super-cool little space replete with his screen-printed wares. Founded four years ago, Knox's namesake label features his original hand-drawn graphics on organic cotton and bamboo apparel. The casual men's tees were his claim to fame, but the brand has since expanded to include women's tees, accessories, art prints, and a collection of sterling-silver and gold-vermeil jewelry made with Aaron Ruff (of popular label Digby & Iona).

Industrial designer Mark Reigelman got crafty with the small retail space: He used barn board display crates, black textured wallpaper, gallery lighting, and a killer wall-size mural by Knox himself to create a sharp interior look. It doesn't overshadow the unique artistry behind each item for sale, though. Montana Knox's graphics are curious and clever and kinda crazy, too. Check out that scaley monster ravaging the heart of the "I [heart] New York" logo tote above!

Lest you think this line is all about looking cool, please note that Montana Knox only uses climate neutral organic cotton and sustainable bamboo as well as the highest environmental, social and ethical standards in the industry. It's also family-run and totally indie. When we stopped by before their summer party last Friday, we met sister Laura (who helps manage the shop and models the women's garb) and mom Annette (who mans the books and also makes the company's adorable Montanimals stuffed toy line). Though some of his design creatures appear a bit menacing, Montana Knox's store is of the feel-good variety.

So such a rainy NYC, My mom and aunt came to visit was still a great time.The Brownstoners was a little empty but we did awesome, and the same in Soho. But well see you 2marrow 11-6 under the Brooklyn Bridge.

So its crazy to see such a dark person like Gene Ween and all his funny faces in a elementarySchool setting, but let me say it was the best $15 spent ever.  The fusion between Jazz, country and dark rock was excellent and the sludge hammer encore was awesome.  Joe Russo on Drums and the bass player from Ween with this amazing guitarist . They also encored  with Friends which i didn't know was inspired buy the theme song they wrote for Sponge Bob.
