This is a Mikiphone Pocket Phonograph for playing 78 RPM 10" or
smaller records, anywhere you might want to, as it is mechanical
and portable. It was Swiss made by Paillard, circa 1925. It has a serial
number of 26-0023471. It is one of the smallest phonographs ever made
and it has great Swiss watchmaker craftmanship. This MikiPhone is
complete and does work fine. It has a cloth and leather case which it fits
into and it looks like an oversize pocketwatch. The zipper works fine,
and handle seems strong. There is some useage marks showing and
some soiling from age or storage. It all folds into this case which
measures 5" across x 2" wide. It includes the original and rare tin needle
case which is pretty full of needles. The dark green needle tin has some
scratches on it and has some dents in it. Inside the lid of the phono
is the diagram for packing it up. The partly hollow arm swings out
and you attach the reproducer pickup or needle part, which is
the original, and is well marked, and it has an excellent
diaphram in it. The nickel back of the reproducer has a little
scuff wear on the back where the black celluloid resonator
attaches which emits the sound. The celluloid resonator
has some scuff marks from use and attaching it to pickup.
This is mostly made of nickel plated steel and weights about
3 pounds. It winds up like a clock with the big key on the side,
and when you move the arm it turns it on, and you also can
adjust the 78rpm speed also. The nickel on the outer body has
some scratches and a small ding on the front and back
from some use and handling, but the nickel plate is pretty
good on the front side. It also has some discoloring on the
nickel from the case which you store it in, or maybe
from handling it, and some small corrosion spots, this is mainly
on the outer rim part. The case is
lined with a dark purple felt and it may have reacted on the nickel,
by dulling it in some places. The picture of the side shows
the dullness on the rim or sides of the metal casing. It might
polish out some, but I do not expect it will come out very shiny
on the rim. The turntable has a red felt top which has some
wear spots in it. A very nice and unusual item from the 1920's.
Insurance if wanted, will be based on final price.

Do you collect Antique Crank Record Players? Ever see a portable one

this small? Imagine its Summer, the year 1920. You head off on a picnic

with your family or your sweetheart. Out comes the blanket and food and

Oh! The music. You pull out your KOMPACT box camera size portable phonograph.

Open it up, take out the crank and wind it. Flip open the turntable extensions and

place on your 78 RPM Bing Crosby Record. Swing over the reproducer arm with

needle and place it on the record. Whala! You have music. Quite amazing.

This very clean Antique portable phonograph is in good working condition.

I played a record on it a few times. Also I was curious? I unscrewed four screws

and looked inside to find the winding mechanics are of Swiss manufacture by

The Famous music box company "Thorens" See photos..... Closed, The portable

crank phonograph measures 8" long by 5-1/4" wide by 6" high.

It has the original crank. The leather carrying strap on the top is missing.

From others that I've seen, one can be cut from an old leather belt. Record

not included (they're easy to get) No reserve. ........BE SURE TO CHECK ALL THE PHOTOS!........
